Recap: National Conference

November 4, 2016

PRSSA National Conference really is the best time of the year. At this year’s event in Indianapolis, there was motivating advice, spreading of ideas, exchanging of business cards and networking galore.  It is really inspiring to be surrounded by motivated students in public relations. You are able to relate to everyone on some level, whether it is about classes, internships or being in public relations.  All speakers brought very different advice on a range of topics.  Here are some of my favorite quotes from the presenters at conference:

“If your plan A doesn’t work out, don’t worry, plan B might be a heck of a lot better” – Holly Wagner, Public Relations and Product Placement Representative at Vera Bradley

“Be memorable, authentic and experimental” – Theo Tyson, Fashion and Events Director at Trinity Production

“To solve issues you need a diverse group of people around a table with their sleeves rolled up and a pot of coffee in the middle.  Today’s issues require dialogue” – Bridget Coffing, Senior Communications Consultant; Chief Communications Officer, Emeritus, McDonald’s Corporation

“Embrace who you are because you can’t let go what you haven’t embraced” -  David Grossman, Founder and CEO at The Grossman Group

“Loving an industry matters but learning a new one can be fun.  Be flexible” – Patti Temple Rocks, Managing Director at Golin Chicago

The connections you can make through PRSSA are endless and National Conference is the most fun place to meet people like you.  Can’t wait to see everyone again in Boston next year!
